Railing Types and Applications

Guardrail

  • Purpose: Prevents falls from platforms, mezzanines and raised walkways, and keeps workers clear of conveyors and moving equipment.
  • Typical uses: Platforms, mezzanines, catwalks, conveyor crossovers, packing lines and equipment perimeters.
  • Design: Meets OSHA 29 CFR 1910.29 with a 42-inch top rail and mid-rail, posts bolted to the floor, and a center post on sections 72 in and longer.

 

Employee Guidance Railing

  • Directs worker movement along designated walkways, processing lines and restricted areas.
  • Maintains sanitary flow by separating clean and dirty areas to help prevent cross-contamination.
  • Supports hygiene zones by guiding employees through hand wash and sanitizing stations before they enter production.
  • Built for inspection: cleanable, corrosion-resistant stainless steel suited to USDA- and FDA-inspected facilities.
